I was in the AutoZone in Bargersville a while back to get my batteries checked. Steve was the one that helped me and checked them. He disconnected one of the two batteries in my diesel truck to get accurate test results. Many people do not know this is essential for these engine platforms, but he does.
When I had called earlier in the morning, I spoke with Steve, and he also reminded me of a test I had done previously that indicated I had a bad starter. And, unlike my normal approach, I had let it slip my mind as there were no starting issues presented. I assumed at the time, the test was likely wrong, and I clearly just moved on.
So on this day, Steve replaced my battery under warranty, and had a starter in stock that he had ordered from the hub after I called earlier in the morning. The starter arrived from the hub just when I was in the store and Steve was able to send me out the door with a new battery, and a new starter.
I stopped by on my way to get my vehicle serviced by a diesel shop much further south. When I arrived at the garage, the technician checked the starter and indicated that the power wire was on the verge of wearing completely through and becoming severed. Thankfully, I had a starter in hand for the tech to install while I was there for the oil change.
Had it not been for Steve’s thoughtfulness and being proactive to ensure the part was available in the store, I may have gotten stranded with a bad starter when my Truck was essential to my job.
This was beyond a great customer experience, and please know I very rarely experience anything that is notable. This was conscientious customer protection, which I deeply value. So many thanks to Steve and his amazing staff!
