We live out of state, and this restaurant is located quite close to the family we visit. Second time there in 2 years but probably won't return on our next visit to MO. The hard wood seats without cushions are really uncomfortable (none of the seating has cushions, except for a tiny booth that is right up against the cash register area). The food overall was unimpressive. Biscuits and gravy were fine. Fruit cup was, disappointingly, almost all melon. Scrambled eggs and toast were cold (could be because the whole place felt very cold so I had to grab a sweater from the car) but the flavor tasted good. Service was friendly but not particularly attentive, even though it wasn't busy (a weekday morning). Bathroom was clean and looked well kept. The place in general is small and seems very "mom & pop" where locals probably go (which is what we like to support), but we think there's room for improvement to offer a more enjoyable experience to customers.

I came for breakfast with my daughter at 10:45am on a Saturday. We waited for 10 minutes as the waitresses caught up after the rush. Once we were seated we were greeted by a less than friendly, Colleen. I inquired if the crab cakes were made in house or bought frozen. She explained that they were made in house and one of her favorites. We ordered and our food arrived fairly quickly. I was quite disappointed when I cut into the crabcakes they were mushy inside. The bacon was like beef jerky and the eggs were less than desirable. We had not been checked on until we were finished eating and I asked Colleen if they were always mushy and she said they are “always soft inside” and said “I’m sorry” and brought us the check. I never expect to get free food but what I did expect in this case was an inquiry to see if she could get me something else especially after she didn’t check on us. Maybe my sights were set too high for this place but I will not be back.
In 42 years of life, ive only written 1 review, this will be my second. From the time we were sat, the service was AWFUL! no one acknowledged us for the first 10 minutes we were sat. When our server (christina) came over, she asked for drinks and I told her that we were ready to order too. Her face changed to pure irritation and annoyance that I didnt want to just order drinks. I ordered my food and when my bf went to order, she cut him off and asked me questions about other things I wanted. As we waited 40 minutes for food, I went to the bathroom. There was a pregnant server coming out of the stall and told me the door didnt lock and handed me a staw and said to just use this. She left the restroom WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS!!!!! I didnt care if she was pregnant, but that she's a server and DIDNT WASH! Our food finally came and was dropped off by another server, when I asked her if I could have extra gravy, she looked at me for a second and looked like I just asked her for the Hope diamond. We willNEVER come back here. Just horrible, crappy service!!!!

I will say when we called in and asked if there was a current wait for a party of two, the girl who answers was a little snarky and said ”not right now” then I said “okay thank you” and she just hung up she did not say bye or thanks for calling or see you soon. When we arrived and were sat it was over ten minutes before I finally flagged down a waitress, who today turned out to be the woman of the hour, Nikki “scrappy”. She was apologetic, polite, made recommendations, had a great sense of humor and was very transparent about wait time for foodi as they were busy and seemed to be short on servers. She also had us sign up for rewards. Which encourages future visits. The food was very good and we will for sure return. I want to try those crab cake Benedict’s. Great job Scrappy saving the day, as we’re about to get up and leave.

Second time we’ve given this place a shot, will never be back. Both times we were seated and then waited for over 20 minutes to just be acknowledged with a drink order. We waited and dealt with it the first visit, but this time we decided to leave after no one checking back with us after the drink order. It’s not a big place and there were 3 servers on with a host/to go person as well. Watched multiple tables come in afterwards and have their orders taken, while we sat there with menus open, looking around.
I’m understanding of an off visit, so we gave it another chance…but to have the same situation occur on the second visit? That’s unacceptable.
