My experience with Astound was extremely disappointing due to the following issues: I was charged for months for something that I was not getting. To make this error right I was quoted a rate of $78.27/month for 12 months. The very next month, the bill increased to $123.27. Ineffective Customer Support: I was turned away from a local office and forced into a lengthy and unproductive call with a remote agent. Lack of Written Confirmation: When I called to correct the error, customer service made a similar verbal offer but refused to provide any documentation or email confirmation, making the offer unreliable. Difficult Cancellation Process: Canceling my service required a 90-minute phone call that did not result in a resolution. Instead, I must now wait up to 48 hours for a callback simply to ensure my service is terminated and I am not billed further. (They never called) I have since switched to another provider and would caution others to monitor their billing and service agreements with this company very closely.

Bad experience with them! I own a house, where I rent and the person who rented me last year left a debt of more than $1,000 in RCN which I had many problems with the tenant because she has a lot of debts with me too. The problem here is when the new tenant who is renting and wants to put internet can't because the other person didn't pay, I sent all the tests (rental contract) and even lawsuits and they still won't let her put internet. They put internet in the name of a person who wasn't even in the contract because they didn't ask for enough evidence. Now, RCN wants me as the owner to pay the debt left by the other person. Because they will never be able to put internet on my property until I pay. I'm not going to recommend them at all!

Constantly had issues with service in my area and internet going out. Had to unplug my router several times a week to get it to restart. They even came and replaced the router with a brand new one, and supposedly re-did the line in my yard. It worked a little better but not great. On top of that, my bill had gone up over 60% for basic internet. I know I am not the only customer dealing with these issues as I constantly get notifications on my ring neighborhood app that internet is out again for Astound. I recently cancelled my service with them because I got a great deal through Verizon with my cell phone plan. Works phenomenal and is $90 cheaper per month! I called astound to cancel and was notified that although I cancelled halfway through the month, I am still going to be charged the full amount next month because they do not pro- rate. Also had to return the router myself to their location in person. The company is essentially making an entire months worth of billing although they will not be providing service for two weeks. On top of that, I had never called to complain about service being out or get credits for all the downtime and inconvenience I had. I just dealt with it for as long as I could. I will not recommend this company to anyone, seek other options. UPDATE: Astound sent me a review to my email about my interaction with customer service, which I rated low as well. Today I missed a call from them so called back and had to re explain my situation to the a new customer service rep. She then proceeded to tell me the same thing I already knew about them not pro rating my bill even though there will be 18 days in between the date I cancelled my service and my next bill. I asked to speak to the person that tried calling me earlier to see if that individual had a different resolution. They said a supervisor was trying to contact me and had in the notes that she was going to tell me the exact same thing, that they were not willing to help. On top of that I will be charged the new rate that is $50 more expensive than my last, which is what finally caused me to cancel. I explained how since July of 2024 I had 4 bill increases which doubled my bill and there was no reason as to why so many in such a short amount of time for the same terrible service. She also tried explaining to me that I was notified of the bill increase back in September and could have cancelled before the next billing cycle. I let her know I still have the email reflecting the next billing cycle increase from 10/14/25 and I cancelled my service 4 days later once I had shopped around my other options. This company is a joke and I am 4/4 on speaking to customer service reps that clearly read from a company pamphlet and have no care for retention.

On 9/18/25 I received my bill from Astound and saw that my bill was going from $43.18 to $65 for just internet. I called and spoke to a female rep who said she could get me $35.18 for 2 years. Wow, great, ok. 10/16/25 I got my next bill, $57.60, hmmm that's not right. I called and spoke to "Zack" who said that promotion ended 10/7/25 and I should never have been put in it. He was able to see the notes from the conversation I had on 9/18/25. Ok let me speak to retention. Retention tells me they can't find the promo I was promised and can't see the same thing "Zack" saw and tells me the best she could do was $40. No I was told $35. After over 2 hours on the phone they refused to honor the original promo of $35.18/month. Use caution with Astound. This isn't the 1st time they promised this but charge you that. Astound should be changed to Astounding as in its Astounding they stay in business!

Worst internet company I have ever dealt with. I was convinced that my premium $500 Nighthawk Modem was not guaranteed to support the 1.5 GB speeds that Astound offered me (though it previously did on another cable system and was built for compatibility on the nation's largest providers) so I rented a modem from them (they never disclosed that the "waived fee" would only be good for two years). Additionally, I thought that the speed and price were decent and comparable to what I had on the western side of the USA, but again, I wasn't told that my rate was a two year promotion and my bill increased by $20 with only 30 days notice that the promotion was a thing, and that it was ending. Tech support is worthless! They scare you with "if we determine that this is a problem within your home you'll be responsible for a $75 service charge" and temp many into paying for a service protection plan to eliminate this kind of fee (has never been charged to me when a tech has come out twice). The internet has largely been stable and reliable, except for a day in August when they were working in the neighborhood to upgrade services and unplugged our coax cable outside. We called the next day and the soonest they could get someone out was 5 days away (that's incredibly painful in today's connected tech world), when the tech came out he verified it was a disconnected cable and we were back online in 5 minutes. They did provide a service credit after we had to contact them again and raise the issue to their awareness. The only reason I ever went for this company was because it's the only one wired into our complex and they have an "exclusive deal" with Astound... I'm so thrilled to be ending our relationship with this company!
