  This is a great dentist. My only complaint is when I went it to get a deep clean, they didn't numb my mouth enough, so it really hurt when they deep cleaned my front upper and lower teeth. Also, finding parking near the area is annoying since it's all street parking, so be careful if you have an appointment during a busy time of day. There's also no free wifi. Other than all of that, it's a pretty good dentist.

  In good conscience I can't recommend Art of Modern Dentistry. I am giving 1 star because 0 is not an option. They earned their 0. They never verified whether my insurance coverage would be in network or out-of-network before providing services. Although verifying coverages ultimately is the patient's responsibility, it's a common and expected practice for providers to confirm network status prior to treatment. The office did not inform me they were out-of-network. Thus giving me an option to take my business elsewhere. I was quoted a single price without disclosure of surcharge for using a particular payment method( credit card). No payment options were discussed. I was not offered the opportunity to pay with cash to avoid the surcharge. I had to request a receipt for payment. I was initially told it would be sent via text, but it was later emailed without notification of change of delivery method. I received no follow-up communication to clarify the change and how the receipt would be delivered. I had to call them back, just to be informed that the delivery method was changed. Preventative services- such as x-ray, cleanings and consultations are fully covered under my insurance plan without out-of-pocket costs when in-network. Because Art of Modern Dentistry is out-of-network, I was charged $511 for a full set of x-rays only( including surcharge) this service if in-network would have been free. The office also attempted to discuss payment plan options for additional services, i.e. deep cleaning, crown replacement, ectera. They started by saying the other charges would be substantial charges that insurance wouldn't cover, so in order to move forward they wanted to know how I would pay for the other services. I informed them I would not be returning. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this provider.

  I had a really nasty recession in the gums of one of my canines so I booked a last minute appointment wherever would take me. These folks are predators. They charge almost twice the other quotes I have gotten after the fact. They were in my mouth for a grand total of twelve minutes for a $700 service, they water boarded me because the technician wasn't helping suction all the water the Dr. was flooding my face with, so I went home and brushed crap out of my own teeth. I told them I'd never had anything more than a routine cleaning, and they didn't explain anything about what was going to happen in the appointment so I was kind of shocked. The front desk girl swindled me into signing up for a credit card to pay for their outrageously priced services without explaining that it was a credit card or that they would be charging me a $40 monthly billing fee and selling my information to other companies. I loved the technician when she was working with me and the doctor seemed nice enough, but this place is really expensive for having rushed, subpar service. Also annoyed that the front desk kept calling me "love". Didn't we quit doing that twenty years ago?

  I’ve been a customer at the Southport location for many years now. I appreciate how Dr. Daftary has made me feel I am cared for after each appointment. Paulina was very friendly and helpful when last minute changes in the schedule came up.
