The marketing employee named Caleb was courteous & Professional. He answered my questions and the one he did not know he took time and called the correct department to get the answer. Caleb is a STAR EMployee. Also the host named Gilbert was very detailed and followed through with our concerns. Gilbert is always a friendly person we look forward in meeting everytime we come to Blackhawk.

We paid over $500.00 for two nights at Ameristar. The room had a couple minor issues, a tare in the carpet, cracked tile in the bathroom, a chipped up bathtub, right where ones butt sits. The closet door frame was sticky to the touch, and a light above the closet door souldnt shut off. The elevators were all in disrepair. Some didn't show what floor they stopped at, some didn't have a light up for when you select a floor, some floors call button didn't light up when pushed, so you didn't know if the elevator was going to stop on your floor! We ate dinner at the restaurant in the casino. The food was great, but the service, or lack thereof was not so good. When playing the machines, the drink service was all but there. We sat at two machines for over an hour, did not see one cocktail waitress. I should have just gone to the bar, and paid for my beer, as it would have been cheaper than the $100.00 plus that I lost during that hour. We love Black Hawk, and have stayed at Ameristar on more than one occasion. It seems that they no longer care about the overall condition of the rooms, or about customer service inside the restaurant. One good plus, we had a great weekend playing at Ameristar, and always enjoy the area. Just not sure we want to spend the money for a sub par room!

Stayed here with my husband because they were hosting a convention for his job. Literally the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in (cleanliness wise). I would’ve rather stayed at a La Quinta. First we showed up to our room and it was absolutely disgusting. the bed had physical crusties on it along with various stains in the sheet. (i understand not everything can stay white but never in my life have i seen so many stains in a hotel bedding before). The furniture is dated and old, the headboards are fake leather that is indeed peeling as some other reviews suggest. I imagine this place used to be nice in the years 2007 and under. But the last straw for me was the LEFT OVER BEARD TRIMMINGS in the bathroom on the “what-you-would-hope” to be disposable paper- changed out after every guest- that the rinse cups were on. (see photo). House keeping obviously did not move/ change out anything they deemed “untouched” by the previous guest while cleaning. That to me is so foul. Beyond the obvious concerns of freshness, house keeping should remove ALL items on a surface before cleaning and they obviously have an issue with this. We complained to front desk and were fortunately met with no push back for a new room, which i appreciate. However, new room was barely cleaner. Again the house keeping has an issue with cleaning/removing items from surfaces. This bathroom had a weird blue substance left over on the tissues. Could be cleaner from a spray bottle or could be something else??? I definitely wasn’t expecting this from a casino resort type of hotel. I would avoid staying here if you’re expecting cleanliness and nice fresh rooms. Luckily for us we only paid around $100 for the discounted convention rooms, as I would NEVER pay full price given the state of the rooms. Carpet is older than me and holds stains from years of use. Beds are peeling. Wood furniture has dents, dings and scratches beyond belief. Every vertical surface in the hotel including walls, mirrors and doors had speckles on them. Dusting is a foreign concept to this hotel staff as well it seems. The walls are paper thin and all night i kept hearing the people next door using the bathroom and coughing. very lovely. I did not get photos of everything i found to be unsuitable but if you look at the other bad reviews photos they are not exaggerating. The casino itself is whatever, the surrounding ones are way better. Unless you enjoy basking in the germs of unknown guests before you, I would save your time and money and go stay at the monarch or literally anywhere else.

I will never be back to this place to stay. When we arrived I had to call for housekeeping to come change my bedding because there was hair on my pillow cases. The room is so out dated. The fridge didn’t work along with the switch to turn off the lamps next to the beds. In the morning went to brush my teeth not only did the sink smell like sewer gnats were coming out the sink. This hotel needs a major renovation and update especially for the money you pay. I told the front desk when I left how I felt and they just said “oh I’m sorry”. Do better, Ameristar!!

Title: Ameristar Black Hawk – A Relic Living Off Reputation If you’re expecting a high-end casino resort experience at Ameristar Black Hawk, prepare to be disappointed. The hotel itself is dated beyond belief — think late-90s decor left to decay. The headboards were literally peeling, the carpet looked like it had absorbed decades of wear, and the entire room felt dark and depressing. The so-called “mountain view” was laughable — my window faced a cliff wall that looked more like an abandoned construction site than a scenic vista. The bathroom lighting was gothic at best, casting a dim, almost haunted hue that made getting ready feel like a punishment. To add insult to injury, the small refrigerator didn’t work, and my maintenance request was completely ignored. No follow-up, no apology — nothing. For a place charging premium rates, the service quality was shockingly indifferent. And the buffet? Let’s just say it would make a truck stop diner look gourmet. Gnats hovered around the sad excuse for a salad bar, and the overcooked meats tasted like they’d been sitting under heat lamps since the mining boom. This entire property feels like it’s coasting on its name and its mining-town nostalgia. Ameristar Black Hawk desperately needs a full-scale renovation and a management wake-up call. Until that happens, save your money and stay literally anywhere else in town. ⭐ 1 out of 5 – and that’s being generous.
