Was not informed that the item I bought was final sale upon checkout and attempted to return - was pointed to a small sign with tiny words on the counter that apparently I should have read. Will not be returning or purchasing products from this company in the future.
1-Star Review for Alo Store (Manager: Milica)
I recently visited this Alo location to exchange or return an item I had purchased previously — a pink rose onesie that had not been worn or washed but had visible lint balls.
When the manager, Milica, approached the counter after being informed by an employee, her demeanor immediately made me uncomfortable. Her facial expression and tone were tense and condescending from the start. She informed me that I was two weeks past the return/exchange period but said she would make an exception. However, she added that I would need to make an additional purchase in order to complete the exchange.
I politely asked her to clarify, as this is not standard retail practice — typically, an exchange does not require a new purchase unless the replacement item exceeds the original price. Milica responded by saying, “You want me to explain how making an exchange works?” and proceeded with, “Let me explain to you how retail works.” The tone and phrasing were dismissive and unnecessarily condescending.
My mother entered the store during this time and also observed how Milica was speaking to me. A few minutes later, while I was looking for another item, Milica approached me again and stated that the return would no longer be honored because the item was “not in its original condition.”
The interaction felt unprofessional, uncomfortable, and unnecessarily escalated by the manager’s tone and attitude. It left me questioning how this store handles customer service — especially toward African American customers.
This was an extremely disappointing experience, and I hope Alo’s leadership reviews how customers are treated under management like this.

I’ve always had super pleasant experiences at this Alo shop ! The staff are always warm and kind to me. They are also super happy to help with styling and pulling items that I didn’t know existed but would like !! If something doesn’t workout, doing returns here is also pretty easy.

I came in to exchange a product for store credit, the young lady at the front mentioned the manager would make an exception for me but wanted to force me to make my purchase the same day. Considering my day is pretty busy and hectic I wanted to shop in peace with no pressure another day or online. I’m a little sad about my experience and appreciate the “exception” but not with the forceful guidelines.
