I usually shop at the Prudential or Newbury locations, and as an Alo All Access member I’m very familiar with the brand and normally have positive experiences. I recently visited the Chestnut Hill store after signing up for an event and thought this might become my new home location, but unfortunately this visit changed my mind. I came in to do an exchange, and while waiting for the staff to bring my items, I decided to browse the store. As I walked around, I realized I was being followed. At one point, I stopped in my tracks and the manager had to pivot quickly, making it very obvious that I was being watched. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. Despite that, I picked up a pair of shorts. The man who rang me out was very kind and helpful as well as the rest of the staff, but once I got to my car I noticed I had been charged incorrectly. When I went back inside to have it corrected, the staff member handling it was unapologetic, and the manager seemed stiff, as if I was inconveniencing them for pointing out the error. The tag clearly listed one price, but I was charged a higher one. To make matters worse, the manager made a snarky remark along the lines of, “Every dollar counts.” It’s not about the price.. I’m happy to pay for what I buy but customers should be charged what’s listed and treated with respect when errors happen. The experience was disappointing. I’ll continue shopping with Alo, but I’ll be taking my business back to the Prudential and Newbury locations, where the service has always been welcoming.

Very disappointing experience – August 31st I had an extremely unpleasant experience (07/31) at this store. A woman who seemed to be an employee treated me with complete disrespect. She kept following me around the store and was speaking into her earpiece while staring at me, clearly communicating with someone at the register about me. I came in with money to spend and the intention to shop, but I was made to feel so uncomfortable and embarrassed that I had no choice but to leave. I’ve never experienced anything like this in a store with such a well-known reputation. No one should be treated like that, no matter how they look or who they are. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak directly with the manager about this situation, and I sincerely hope this never happens to anyone else again. Respect goes a long way, and unfortunately, it was completely lacking during my visit.

Bad experience at this store. I went in on Sunday, July 27th, and the first fitting room I tried was very dusty. While I was trying on clothes, a staff member rudely told me that the register was closing at 7:00 and that if I wasn't ready by then, I wouldn't be able to buy anything. First of all, I had no idea they were closing, they should stop letting people in if we’re not going to be given a chance to shop. I ended up rushing and trying things on in less than a minute. Thankfully, the cashier was very kind, but overall it was not a good experience. Won’t be back to this location.

The workers aren't approachable or welcoming. I decided to stop by for a quick trip to grab a birthday gift for a friend. I stood in line, at the front of the line, and watched 3 workers behind the counter completely ignore me, no eye contact. Almost 10 minutes passes and finally they decided to ring me up. I understand perhaps they were "busy" but it would've helped if they just acknowledge that and said, I'll be with you shortly. It felt weirdly humiliating, almost like I wasn't worthy of buying anything?
