After shocking a pool, how long should I wait to swim in it? Why should I shock a pool?
Advantage Pools recommends waiting eight to 12 hours before swimming in your pool. Shock is meant to eliminate chemicals within your pool so doing it after heavy rains and storms is the best time do it. Shocking your pool also helps with eliminating the chlorine that is no longer effective in your pool. If your chlorine level reaches above a 0.2 level, shocking the chlorine will make it active again.
