  We were on a motorcycle trip, it was pouring rain and my wife had forgotten her rain gear at home. They had everything we needed and the employees were extremely courteous and helpful. Great shopping experience amidst a bad situation!

  We enjoy shopping at Academy, this one in particular is fine. Just can't usually bring myself to go here very often. Why pay $20-$35 for one Under Armour shirt, when you can go to TJMax or Plato's Closet and buy 2-3 shirts for this price(if your thrifty shopper like I am)? Exactly..people only shop here 10-1 because of the name when I can buy the same clothes, slightly worn for a better price elsewhere!

  If you look at other reviews it says others have experienced the same as I have, I went in Academy today to buy my son some fall/winter clothes and also looked all around because that’s what some people like to do when they shop and I started to notice there was the same few workers who talked on there little speaker thing on there shirts and looked up and they were following me around the store!!!! I have spent hundreds of dollars in that place as well as my family and I got told to never come back just because I went around for to long looking at stuff and CHECKED OUT buying my sons clothes and then proceeds to tell me that I’m never allowed back with no reasoning and even opened my purse and told me to leave AFTER purchasing there merchandise!! This was a bigger red head I think named chris. Very unprofessional and was very insulating when I work a full time job! Not everyone steals and deserves to be treated so awful by there employers. My family will never be back there, shame on them!!! Awful place!!!!

  Me & my husband were attempting to purchase a handgun at Academy Sports in Elizabethtown, KY on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025. The store Associate was young man that did not appear very adept at his job. He lacked knowledge & tact to be in his position. Actually, he acted authoritarian, paranoid, condescending, patronizing and smug. Hopefully, in such a serious position, the company would make better selections for their associates.
