  A relative has a Nebo rechargeable flashlight with 7500 lumens that he got at Academy...I liked it s o much that I bought one. It is a really powerful flashlight that really lights up what ever you point it at. If you want a powerful one get one of these at Academy!

  Went in store and tried to price match same item on academy.com associate named Mya said they absolutely do not and we could order online if we wanted that price. First off that isn’t the policy and second it was rude.

  I will never do business at this location again due to how unfair I witnessed Ron who is supposedly a manger treat a couple who simply came in to purchase a firearm. The wife simply stated to the husband that she needed to transfer money from their joint savings account to their joint checking account and Ron assumed that she was making a straw man purchase for her husband. My husband and I had just finished a great conversation with the couple and moments later they were met with rudeness and not so friendly customer service from Ron. It's almost as if Ron was fishing for some illegitimate reason to not allow the wife to purchase her firearm even after passing a background check and doing everything correct. He completely embarrassed and humiliated them. I will Not be returning to this store after witnessing how Ron treats customers here.

  I stopped in yesterday 10/06/2025 to get my hunting & fishing license and checked the store out. Of course, they have just about everything you'll ever need for any and all outdoors activities. The one thing I noticed is that their hat selection has dwindled to almost nothing. Also, there was very little Dallas Cowboys fan fare to purchase. I know we're close⁰ to Houston and all, but the Cowboys are a Texas team as well as being America's Team... There should be a bigger selection. Other than that, the store was clean, and everything is easy to find in its designated area. The Academy staff were very fast, friendly, and helpful.

  I went last week with my wife and kids and purchased a Ruger Rxm and the process was smooth! This week we returned to purchase a firearm for my wife they let us pick the gun out and my wife passed her background as well! When it came time for us to pay the manager said I could not pay for it while insinuating that is was making a straw purchase through my wife! So even though I had already purchased and passed my background as well as my wife we were denied! So to say the least I'm very disappointed with today's interaction they offered no alternative and the manager was very defensive and rude after I inquired as to why I couldn't pay for my wife's purchase as I currently am the only one with a bank account! Theres no law against purchasing a firearm for my wife especially considering we are past the point of getting background checks and I would have done another if necessary! I would absolutely understand had it been some random guy or whoever off the street but I was in the store with my wife and kids! I don't appreciate being accused of such a thing and won't be returning for future firearm purchases as I was here from recommendation from my dad who's purchased here a few times!
