  So, originally was excited about this store coming to the area because the Augusta location had a good supply of tennis shoes back in the day. I stepped into the store today and was sorely disappointed. There is a large tennis community that has been looking for a good selection of tennis gear (clothes, shoes, socks). This place is severely lacking in that department. I cannot believe that there weren’t any grips or overgrip options for purchase either. This store is not set up to be successful in this area. I foresee it going the way of Best Buy. It’s a shame.

  Great location as there is nothing like this close. Unfortunately there is no leadership or structure. Word of mouth in a small community like ours will make or break any new business. I have a niece who works at this location, and this is NOT a company I would recommend anyone to work for. Her fellow coworkers walk in the store not on the clock yet and is wrote up for wearing a sweatshirt. Don’t think about sitting down for a minute to catch your breath when there is NO central air because you will be wrote up as well. Lack of training, don’t coach your employees just write them up. 2 or 3 additional managers there who are treated awful by the store manager. Your two leaders the store manager and district manager held a meeting telling ALL the employees what to NOT say during a corporate visit prior to opening. Beaufort is a small city and we all know each other. We ALL talk and the bad is much more than the good. Great store, awful leadership. Academy sports, you are new to our small community and we do not like what you have brought here. Putting people down, instead of training your employees is your way of doing things. This is NOT a store we want in our small and close community. When your employees who are young and look to you for leadership and there is none, you have issues. A new store should come in open and welcome everyone. Make a fun, safe workplace. This is NOT Academy Sports. Again, word of mouth. Very disappointing as we thought this would be great. We all went opening day, and now we will not. We will drive to a Dicks Sporting goods store. You should be ashamed of your selfs for letting your your store manager and district manager treat our family members who were born and raised here like you do. If my niece gets backlash from this, this community will stand behind her and do what we need to.
