    My wife and I went in to buy a tent. We found a nice 6 person tent from Core for 169.99. It was not on the floor so we took the card off the shelf and approached a woman up front who tried to assist us. She then asked a manager if they had more in back. They didn't and the manager came out and tried to help us, even offering to comp expedited shipping if it was an option. We needed the tent by Thursday and it was Monday. The manager then told us that there's another Academy that has that exact tent in stock and that coincidentally the manager from that store was coming to the Lafayette store on Tuesday. He said that they could likely bring it and give us a call when they got here. He took my name, number, and email and we left the store feeling good about our experience. It felt like they really tried to help us, which we really appreciated. Tuesday comes and goes and no call. Wednesday comes and no call. I decided to go to the store and check out the tent section again to see if it was there, since we were leaving on Thursday. Lo and behold, there was now the exact tent we wanted on the very top shelf. The price/info card was not placed back, but i grabbed the tent because i was almost certain it was the tent meant for us. Not sure who dropped the ball on calling us, but i had the tent now so whatever. Then I went to buy the tent and it rang up at 189.99. Now to be fair, the tent was 189.99 when i looked online, however, the price card my wife and i handed over clearly stated it was 169.99. The price probably increased recently and they decided to not put the tag back out to get an updated price out. I still think we should have paid the 169.99 since that was what was advertised. All in all the guy at the gun counter named Les gets a 5/5. Really nice dude and helpful. He's the reason for 2/5 vs. 1/5. It's great to want to help the customer but you must deliver and follow through in order to do so. Edit 9/20/25 I was meaning to update this a few weeks ago. One of the managers Logan reached out to me to talk about my experience. He made no excuses and apologized for the way the situation went. I appreciate the time he took to call me and also the gift card he gave me. Thats the right way to handle business.
