Food was OK, but we won’t be going back. Unpleasant experience. We went for lunch and I had the Enchiladas 3 Victoria, which is 1 chicken mole enchilada, 1 shredded beef with cheese, and 1 ground beef with green chili sauce. The chicken mole was good, the shredded beef with cheese sauce was pretty good, I didn’t care for the ground beef enchilada with green chile sauce as the ground beef was greasy and had the sandy texture of tiny grains of meat in liquid that sort of reminded me of the pate style cat food I give to my cat, if you know what I mean. My husband had a chicken dish and thought it was OK. He had churros for dessert. The service was fine. But the food isn’t why we won’t go back. I had 2 house margaritas and my husband, who doesn’t drink alcohol (designated driver in our family), had coffee. The total lunch bill was $78. Fine. But when I looked at the check, there was a $3 “open food” charge added. I thought that was odd, so I asked what that was for and the server took it to the manager who explained that my husband had requested extra coffee creamers with his coffee. He had a total of 10 creamers with his $6 coffee and a refill and that exceeded their 4 creams per coffee maximum so they up-charged $3 for the extra creamers. Yes, that’s my issue. It’s a small thing, but after 2 house Margaritas, I didn’t appreciate the surcharge on a $75 lunch for 2, or the manager’s attitude when I asked what the charge was for. He told me if we couldn’t afford a $3 charge, we shouldn’t eat out. Yep, that did it. We ended a OK decent lunch with an exceptionally unpleasant feeling toward the restaurant and outright anger toward the manager for that comment. So, we will not be going back. There are literally hundreds of other Mexican restaurants in the Denver area. I don’t expect this review to impact anyone’s opinion, but at least you will know that there is a charge for extra creamers - remember, maximum 4 per coffee people, lol.

Honestly I went here to meet a buddy and I was a bit suspicious since how good can Mexican food be in the mountains. Well this place proved me wrong. First off it comes with complimentary chips and salsa which is getting rarer these days, especially in this part of the country and while they’re nothing to walk home about they are solid. And I can’t complain about free, the border enchiladas were good and filling but lacking as much seasoning as I expect from Mexican food. It maybe because of what I ordered but they were rather plain (but still good but not great) Now the pineapple jalapeño margarita was good. But the local secret which my homie showed me is that you can just get a straight shooter or sipper of the jalapeño/piña infused tequila and that’s delicious. Would definitely recommend getting the shooter of the infused tequila. Overall food was good but there’s definitely a mountain tax in regard to price. Would come here again and the atmosphere and employees were great. Give it a try, while it won’t blow your mind I don’t think it’ll let you down either!
